The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center is proud to offer a PGY2 Residency in Pharmacy Informatics. This program provides the resident with the unique opportunity to collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement innovative informatics solutions across the University of New Mexico Health System. The resident will be able to get experience building advanced clinical tools for the University of New Mexico Hospital (Level 1 Trauma center with a wide range of specialties, pediatrics, OB, outpatient infusion, and clinical research studies), Sandoval Regional Medical Center (a smaller community hospital in Rio Rancho), Metropolitan Detention Center, Comprehensive Cancer Center, and over 100 outpatient clinics.
From day one, the resident will gain hands-on experience in the full informatics lifecycle by identifying challenges, designing and building solutions, and implementing system changes. The program establishes a strong foundation in pharmacy informatics, preparing the resident to work independently and lead health system-wide initiatives.
Elective experiences in Physician Informatics, Nursing Informatics, Population Health, and Antimicrobial Stewardship Informatics allow the resident to cultivate a broad and well-rounded understanding of healthcare informatics. Upon successful completion of the program, the resident will also earn the ASHP Pharmacy Informatics Certificate.
