Joanna G Katzman, MD, MSPH, is a neurologist and Professor at the University of New Mexico (UNM) with Secondary Appointments in the Departments of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, as well as the Colleges of Nursing and Population Health. She is the Director of the UNM Pain Center and Director of Project ECHO’s Public Health programs. In addition to Dr. Katzman maintaining a clinical pain practice during her long-term career, she has always had a passion for the public health of the population. Dr. Katzman’s public health programs include: Climate Change and Human Health, Violence Prevention, First Responder Resilience, Adverse Childhood Experiences, COVID-19, Clinical Communications and Violence Prevention. The Climate Change ECHO program has reached over 6,000 health professionals from all 50 states and over 45 countries. Her Violence Prevention and Gun Safety initiative is now being sponsored by the American Womens Medical Association and Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Safety.
